INTRODUCTION
It mainly includes the following parts: background of the research through literature citation, the problems or questions needed to be solved, the objectives of the research, the main methods used, and the main results obtained.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
This should include exact method or observation or experiment. If an apparatus is used, it’s manufacturer’s name and address should be given in parenthesis. If the method is established, give reference but if the method is new, give enough information so that another author is able to perform it. If a drug is used, its generic name, dose and route of administration must be given. For patients, age, sex with mean age ± standard deviation must be given. Statistical method must be mentioned and specify any general computer programme used.
RESULTS
It must be presented in the form of text, tables and illustrations. The contents of the tables should not be all repeated in the text. Instead, a reference to the table number may be given. Long articles may need sub-headings within some sections (especially the Results and Discussion parts) to clarify their contents. Extra or supplementary materials and technical details can be placed in an appendix where it will be accessible. It may be omitted from the printed version but may be published in the electronic version of the journal.
DISCUSSION
Start with a one-paragraph summary of the main findings. Then place your study in context, referring to other relevant work. Do not repeat in detail data or other information presented in the Introduction or Result section. Discuss the limitation of the methods and the results presenting the clinical relevance of your study and the implications for future studies. Address the issue of effect magnitude, in terms of both the statistics reported and the implications of the results.
REFERENCES
Cite journal articles as follows: Authors: Article title. Abbreviated journal name. Year;volume: inclusive pages. Use Index Medicus abbreviations of journal names.
Cite books as follows: Authors: Name of chapter. In Name of book. Editors’ names. Place, Publisher, year, inclusive page numbers.
Identify references in the text with superscript numerals - e.g., Dorin et al.5
Number all references consecutively as they appear in the text.
Avoid listing unpublished data or manuscripts, personal communications, web sites, and non–peer-reviewed publications.
FIGURES
For all manuscripts accepted, authors will be charged $500 for color pages published in the print version of the journal. When the illustration appears in black and white in the print- ed version, the authors will not be charged a fee. We recommend using symbols, instead of color, for charts and graphs.
Ensure that each photograph or section (i.e., A, B, etc.) is at least 990 pixels wide.
Scan images at the highest dpi possible. Do not modify a low-resolution image by increasing the dpi. Send files at no less than 300 dpi in one of the following formats: TIFF, GIF, JPEG, PHOTOSHOP or EPS. Send color files in CMYK mode for 4-color separation.
All illustrations must include the original magnification and the stain employed, and clearly identify critical areas of radiographs, photomicrographs, etc.
TABLES
Number and title tables.
Provide sufficient information for the table to stand alone.
Avoid tables, graphs, and charts for which the information could be included in the text in several sentences.
SUPPLEMENTARY MATERIAL AND VIDEO ABSTRACTS
Supplementary material can include for example video- and audio files but also figures, tables, and datasets that are of relevant to the main article. Including supplementary material with your article can make it more discoverable, and help maximizing downloads and citations.
Video abstracts can be a good way of getting others to engage with your research, ultimately increasing the visibility and impact of your work. Through a video abstract you can introduce the article in your own words, telling readers what the unique contribution of your article is and why they should read it. We recommend keeping a video abstract short and to the point (no more than a few minutes) and that you use images, charts or tables to help explain the focus of your article. Consider the aim of the video throughout – to get people to read your article. The best video format is MP4 although other video formats such as MOV and MPEG4 are also supported. The minimum dimension is 426 x 240 and the max dimension is 3840 x 2160.
Please make sure to include any supplementary files at the same time as you submit your manuscript, although a video abstract can be sent upon acceptance instead.
Supplemental material will be published as submitted, and will thus not be checked for scientific content, it will not be copyedited and it will not be typeset. Please note that publishing supplementary material involves a fee of 35 €/file to cover administration costs, but video files will be published free of charge.
